Yoga “Vietnamised” in Vietnam

vietnam_yoga_hanoiToday in World News, Spotlight on Vietnam Yoga. Students of all walks of life come to Truong Kim Toan’s yoga class at the Ha Noi Yoga Club. Toan,  the strapping 70 year old instructor reports the boom of yoga in Vietnam since 2006 and estimates practitioners in the 6,000 range. Many approached yoga looking for relief from ailments or for help in weight loss, and ended up sticking with a  regular practice after seeing the lasting benefits. Also attractive is the fact that yoga has been “Vietnamised”, as in adapted to suit the needs of the local culture. Super!
